if a car breaks down on a highway, what is likely to be the problem????? How can an layman fix it???????

1. Probably the elastic band has broken, or the little elves pushing the car have run away. Ask a silly question, and you'll get a silly answer........
2. Getting killed by traffic! When you first notice the car acting funny pull off the highway. Throw in the clutch put the trans in neutral coast off the road if possible. If caught out in traffic lane turn on the flashers get away from the car quickly preferably up the road from where you came with a flashlight waving your arms at night is of Little help. There is very little the average Joe can do but call AAA or Tow Truck and the police 911. After you put gas into it recharge the battery replace the Alternator. Fix the fuel pump. there are so many things that can cause a breakdown. The car is likely to get smashed by a driver talking on there cell phone or some one reading a book or eating. You do not want to be standing in front of the disabled car when it is struck from behind!
